World Cup Volunteers 2018

The project “World Cup Volunteers 2018” is a Large Scale EVS funded by Erasmus+ programme, coordinated by Younet and with participants with the partners from the Opportuneeties KA2 project. It took place during “Mondiali Antirazzisti 2018” (No racist cup) in the beautiful area rounded by green, Bosco Albergati.

This non-competitive sports championship was created in 1997 to fight racial and gender discrimination, promoting the values of sport and multiculturalism.

The main aim of the project was to promote active citizenship, social inclusion and solidarity by involving the volunteers in the organization and management of Mondiali Antirazzisti and by promoting volunteering among youths and stakeholders.

The project emphasized the value of peer-to-peer education in promoting healthy lifestyles, as well as highlight the values of anti-discrimination and intercultural dialogue. The project is better described among a volunteering and a work camp, and took place in an open space rounded by hills for camping.

Mondiali Antirazzisti has experienced a constant growth in the number of participants and in the 2013 edition over 8,000 people and 200 volunteers from more than 50 nationalities have participated.

The volunteers engaged in different activities before and during the festival. Indeed, they took part to the whole organisation and to the implementation of the festival, in particular in logistics and practical aspects: from cleaning, helping in the kitchen, arranging festival spaces to practicing sports and spreading knowledge about antiracism, xenophobia and so on. The festival was hosting more than 200 soccer teams from all over the world, and part of the tasks of the volunteers was to prepare the material to realize it, under the leading of the YouNet and UISP team.

They had the possibility to take part to various activities, such as tournaments of several sports, outdoor activities, debates related to antidiscrimination, concerts and much more. The project “World cup volunteers 2018” also included the following activities:

• On-arrival and integration training

• Intensive language training

• Event management workshop

• Social media and website workshop

• Dissemination workshop

• Two conferences on volunteering
